To explain how to extend a video with different languages via alugha, our boss Bernd prepared an example for you. Therefor he chose a video of a company which is available in several languages. In order to adress the most important target groups, the company uploaded the video 4 times, namely in German, English, Russian and Chinese.

First of all save and listen to the mp3’s

You can download the mp3-files of these 4 videos with the YouTube to MP3-converter audio tool. To be able to edit and listen to these 4 audio tracks we recommmend GarageBand (for Mac OS X-user) or Audacity (for free for Windows, Linux and Mac OSX). To keep it simple we would set up a project name that includes the video-ID of the video you like to use. Now copy/paste the audio files in your audio tool and check up if they are damaged or not. Best thing is to listen to the audio first and compare the sound with the other audio tracks, irregularities can always occure. If everything matches, we recommend to check the end of the video. How does it sound now? - are there maybe slight differences? Adjust the audio files below each other, so that they start at the same place and time. It is important to adjust the length and the speed of the audiofiles so that the synchronisation is as uniform as possible, otherwise bugs can occure and image and audio don’t seem to be in sync.  Afterwards you export the different audio files in the highest possible quality. Now you repeat this process for all four languages.

In the alugha-backend

If you now access your personal alugha account you see a list of your own videos. There you select the appropriate video, alternatively you could also put in the video-ID.  After the selection of the default language (original language) you can start uploading the other audio files. You only have to state the appropriate languages which should be uploaded to the video, to make it multilingual. For all additional languages you can now seperately add title and description of the video via the insert function. Now you simply drag & drop each of the previously stored audio files into our backend to match the corresponding language. Afterwards you click the upload-button for every language and the respective audio track is added. With this your audiofiles are stored on the alugha server. That was basically it.

Four languages - one video

A quick reload of the alugha extended YouTube video and you can directly watch it in different languages. Additionally you can now embed your multilingual video easily and quickly on your own website. For this purpose, you just specify the ID of the appropriate video in the embed code and thus visitors of your website can watch the video in different languages. A big advantage is, that alugha automatically recognizes the browser language of the viewer and the video starts directly in the correct language, providing that this language is available. If not, alugha checks if an English version is available and the video will start in English. If none of these possibilities applys, the Video will start in the default language. Try it out!
