We want to thank you all for the support you've given us.
0:07 → 0:11
Psych2Go's mission is to make psychology and mental health more accessible to everyone.
0:11 → 0:13
Now let's begin.
0:13 → 0:20
Emotional well being is about how you approach life's problems and how you accept and manage your personal feelings through those changes.
0:21 → 0:24
So, how do you know if you're emotionally healthy or unhealthy?
0:25 → 0:30
If you're more emotionally healthy, you can allow your emotions to be more transparent.
0:30 → 0:35
If you're more emotionally unhealthy, you might be withdrawn and suppress your emotions.
0:35 → 0:41
You might find it difficult to forgive, feel insecure and feel like you're running on empty.
0:41 → 0:46
So with that said, here are five signs you are emotionally unhealthy.
0:47 → 0:51
1. you withdraw from most situations and isolate yourself.
0:52 → 1:00
You often run to your room at the slightest inconvenience or perhaps you tend to isolate yourself even when nothing is seemingly wrong.
1:00 → 1:10
While it is good to distance yourself from unnecessary conflicts and take a breather every once in a while, too much isolation could be a warning sign of depression.
1:10 → 1:18
Withdrawing from fun activities and not socializing with family and friends can lead to loneliness, anger, negative thoughts, and misunderstanding.
1:19 → 1:23
2. you tell yourself you're fine even when you're not.
1:24 → 1:27
You always tell yourself that you're fine even when you're not.
1:27 → 1:30
Do you have a habit of ignoring negative emotions?
1:30 → 1:36
Suppressing emotions may seem like an easy quick fix, but it can also lead to emotional outbursts.
1:36 → 1:44
Let's say you suppress your anger over the end of a relationship, or you're upset with a stressful routine at work and you don't tell anyone how you're feeling.
1:45 → 1:52
If you don't deal with your emotions, something as small as forgetting to buy the milk on the grocery list can lead to an explosive fight.
1:53 → 1:55
3. you hold onto grudges.
1:55 → 2:01
Do you find yourself fighting with your enemy in your head, like thinking of comebacks to your nasty classmate?
2:01 → 2:09
While everyone likes to imagine scenarios where they win against their tormentors, it's important to recognize when you're thinking about them too much.
2:09 → 2:13
Holding onto anger and resentment are heavy weights to carry.
2:13 → 2:16
Holding grudges can lead to depression or anxiety.
2:16 → 2:24
You might bring your bitterness and anger into every new relationship and get so wrapped up in the wrong that you can't enjoy your present.
2:25 → 2:28
4. your insecurities get the best of you.
2:29 → 2:31
Are you increasingly worried about your flaws?
2:32 → 2:34
Do you fear other people's judgments of you?
2:34 → 2:43
When generalized insecurity goes unchecked for a long period of time, the doubt and negative feelings you experience can have a significant effect on your life.
2:43 → 2:52
This overwhelming sense of insecurity riddles you with negative thoughts on how to fit in with your peers, reach your goals, or find acceptance and support.
2:52 → 3:01
Insecurity is linked to mental health conditions such as narcissism, anxiety, paranoia, and addictive or dependent personalities.
3:01 → 3:05
And 5. you feel like you're just living for the weekend.
3:06 → 3:09
Do you often feel like you're just getting through your day most of the time?
3:09 → 3:15
Everyone has annoyances with work and school and it's normal to want for the weekend on occasion.
3:16 → 3:21
But when all you do is live for the weekend, that can signify a deeper problem.
3:21 → 3:28
You might be feeling burnt out and frustrated and are dealing with a significant amount of stress and anxiety.
3:28 → 3:34
When you have this living for the weekend type of mentality, you miss out on the other types of fulfillment
3:34 → 3:40
you can get out of the week and struggle with unmet needs, which adds to your stress and frustration.
3:40 → 3:44
Do you struggle with any of these signs of emotional unwellness?
3:44 → 3:48
