As a quick disclaimer, this video is made for educational purposes and is not meant to provide any kind of professional diagnosis for anti social personality disorder.
0:26 → 0:32
Please seek help from a mental health professional if you think you or someone else could be suffering from this disorder.
0:32 → 0:34
With that being said, let's begin.
0:34 → 0:40
Anti social personality disorder is a mental disorder in which a person shows no regard for right and wrong
0:40 → 0:44
and tends to antagonize, manipulate or threat others harshly.
0:44 → 0:50
They can be charming at first but have a widespread disregard for others and show little remorse for their behavior.
0:50 → 0:54
So here are eight signs of anti social personality disorder.
0:54 → 0:58
One. They misunderstand social interactions.
0:58 → 1:02
People with antisocial personality disorder have a skewed social compass.
1:02 → 1:09
They process social interactions in your social signals differently, they might misinterpret things that are said.
1:09 → 1:14
For example, they hear insults or mockery when there is none - which brings us to the next point.
1:14 → 1:16
Two. They're prone to hostility.
1:16 → 1:24
When someone has anti social personality disorder, they often feel that others have wronged them, even when no one actually has.
1:24 → 1:26
They will read between the lines when they interact with you.
1:26 → 1:30
And hear something completely different than what you actually said.
1:30 → 1:34
They might be distressed and on edge, causing them to lash out with hostility and anger.
1:34 → 1:42
In extreme cases, they might even seek revenge for the perceived wrongs against them, whether the insult is real or imagined.
1:42 → 1:44
Three. They can be very manipulative.
1:44 → 1:49
People with antisocial personality disorder can repel against others.
1:49 → 1:52
Others might struggle to communicate and connect with them,
1:52 → 1:57
and to make things worse, people with this personality disorder are also prone to misreading others' signals,
1:57 → 2:01
which can cause a lot of misunderstandings in the relationship.
2:01 → 2:04
To overcome this, they become skilled at charm and manipulation.
2:04 → 2:11
For example, they manipulate you into spending time with them, or they may exploit you and con you to get what they want.
2:11 → 2:13
Even if it's just for their own personal gratification.
2:14 → 2:16
Four. They have a tendency to lie.
2:16 → 2:22
Along with manipulation comes a tendency to lie, and their lies are often used to blame others.
2:22 → 2:25
Lying is a tool they can use for personal gain.
2:25 → 2:30
To someone with anti social personality disorder, the survival of a relationship is vital
2:30 → 2:34
as long as it continues to serve their needs or desires.
2:34 → 2:37
And deceit is just one of the tactics they use to achieve that.
2:37 → 2:40
Five. They're very impulsive.
2:40 → 2:45
Impulsivity is a common factor in the makeup of anti social personality disorder.
2:45 → 2:49
They act on less reservation like there is nothing to hold them back.
2:49 → 2:56
They have very little regard for the consequences of their actions and disregard their own safety or the safety of others.
2:56 → 3:03
Their extreme impulsivity often ends in dire consequences, such as being hospitalized or serving jail time.
3:03 → 3:06
Six. They indulge in repeated risky behavior.
3:06 → 3:11
They're impulsive nature leads them to make snap decisions, which might not turn out well for them.
3:11 → 3:16
For example, they might get involved in criminal activity, such as theft or arson.
3:16 → 3:19
They might have problems with drug and alcohol use.
3:19 → 3:27
Their disregard for right and wrong and low moral standards leads them to make bad, risky decisions, often for little reward.
3:27 → 3:31
Seven. They have little remorse for their behaviors and actions.
3:31 → 3:36
Someone who has anti social personality disorder will do whatever they can to achieve what they want,
3:36 → 3:39
even when their behavior and actions can hurt people.
3:39 → 3:44
They have very little to no remorse for hurting, offending or inconveniencing others.
3:44 → 3:49
They do what they want for their own gain and lack empathy for others.
3:49 → 3:51
Eight. They blame others.
3:51 → 3:54
They also have a habit of putting the blame off on other people.
3:54 → 4:02
Because they struggle to take responsibility for their own harmful behavior, they may rationalize their actions by blaming those they hurt.
4:02 → 4:07
They might think the other person deserved it or have a mindset of "that's just the way life is".
4:07 → 4:13
They refuse to see the repercussions of their actions and put the blame on others instead.
4:13 → 4:17
