25 Jahre D1-Mission - Astronaut Ernst Messerschmid im Spacelab

Orangensafttropfen, die sich zum Viereck formen. Astronauten, die auf einer Art Schlitten in der Schwerelosigkeit hin und her fahren. Und immer wieder ein Blick auf die blaue Erdkugel. Die Bilder, die die Erde von der D1-Mission im Weltall erreichten, sind auch heute noch spektakulär. Vor 25 Jahren startete die erste deutsche Mission am 30. Oktober vom amerikanischen Cape Canaveral. An Bord des Space Shuttles Challenger: das europäische Forschungslabor Spacelab -- von außen eine überdimensionierte Tonne, innen mit Technik vollgestopft -- und die Astronauten Ernst Messerschmid, Reinhard Furrer und Wubbo Ockels, die in der Schwerelosigkeit fast 80 Experimente durchführen sollten.
