Die Centers for Disease Control and Prevention haben immer noch eine Klausel in ihrem Bewilligungsgesetz -- das "Dickey Amendment" -- die besagt: "Keines der Gelder, die für die Verletzungsprävention und -kontrolle an den Centers for Disease Control and Prevention zur Verfügung gestellt werden, darf ganz oder teilweise verwendet werden, um Waffenkontrolle zu befürworten oder zu fördern."
