What are you reaching for, who are you reaching for?
A Devadasi understands her body as the murti मूर्ति. Into her body flows Sakti, life-force, prana, chi, energy flow.
The Devadasi directs this energy flow and expresses it through her song, her dance, in meditation, through her movements. The alchemy of her song, dance, meditation, movement is her presence, the sensual experience of her being and presence.
The Devasadi would say “Don't worship my physical form alone. Worship the Sakti, the energy, the divine presence within my body and being as well.”
“My body is your murti,” says the Devadasi. Worship the life force, the mysterious energy, the superconsciousness who created my body and materialized energy into my physical form. A life-force powers my body, rushes through my form, and you feel this when in my presence, whether or not our bodies touch.”
My Body, My Murti. My Body, My Sacred Ground.
