Harpy Eagle facts: big burbs | Animal Fact Files

Harpy eagles are some of the largest eagles living on our planet. They boast wingspans up to seven feet (2.1m) and can easily catch a mammal the size of Chester! These big birds are considered monogamous for life, and a pair will build a nest in the tallest tree in their territory. Each year they'll add to the nest until it becomes big enough that a human could lay down in it! They lay more than one egg per brood, but only end up raising one chick to adulthood.
