Sukkerarter bevæger sig op og ned i planten i phloem. Floem bruger aktiv transport til at transportere fødevarer næringsstoffer som glukose og aminosyrer omkring planten.
Glukose fremstilles i bladene ved fotosyntese. Glukose omdannes til saccharose i bladene, som derefter kommer ind i phloemkarrene, ligesom aminosyrer. De skal derefter transporteres rundt om planten til hver enkelt celle.
De områder af planten, hvor saccharose fremstilles, kaldes kilderne, og hvor de leveres kaldes dræn.
Phloem bruger aktiv transport, fordi saccharosen bevæger sig mod dens koncentrationsgradient fra en lavere koncentration, hvor den fremstilles, til en højere koncentration i floemcellerne.

In this video, we are going to look at parallel lines. To find the equation of parallel lines, we still use the y=mx + c equation, and because they have the same gradient, we know straight away that the gradient ‘m’ will be the same. We then just need to find the missing y-intercept ‘c’ value.
