Meet Adam Kesselhaut: Alugha's Chief Entertainment Officer, CIO, and All-Around Idea Guy scheming for shares in the company.

Hello, world! Allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Adam Kesselhaut, and I hold a very prestigious title at Alugha: Chief Entertainment Officer. That’s right—not Chief Executive Officer, but Chief Entertainment Officer. I know the abbreviation might confuse people, but hey, that’s half the fun! 😉

As Alugha's CEO (wink wink), I aim to shake things up—not as the head honcho, but as the guy who brings creativity, joy, and just the right amount of chaos to a company that’s revolutionizing how we experience multilingual content. My "CEO" role celebrates my roots in the entertainment industry while also poking fun at how corporate titles can mean just about anything these days. The intent here is clear: let’s keep things lighthearted while aiming for greatness.

From TV Shows to Transforming Alugha

Before stepping into this role, I was deeply entrenched in the entertainment world. I created the TV show Bernd Bridges, composing and performing the music for it as well. Now, as part of the Alugha team, I’m working to transform the platform into a premier hub for groundbreaking entertainment. My goal is to use Alugha not just as a tech tool but as a stage for unique, transformative storytelling.

Enter the CIO: Chief Idiotic Officer

In addition to being the Chief Entertainment Officer, I hold another highly important title: Chief Idiotic Officer. This is where I truly shine. My job as CIO is to represent people like me—those who don’t find tech as "intuitive" as developers think it is. My role is to point out all the confusing, frustrating, and sometimes downright inexplicable things about the platform.

Here’s the thing: I’ve been using Alugha for years and was involved from the start when Bernd and his son Niklas created it. You’d think I’d have it all figured out by now, but nope. That’s precisely why I’m the perfect CIO. I live to uncover those hidden quirks and then, quite loudly, make sure they’re addressed.

The Red Dot Mystery

Let me share my most recent accomplishment as CIO. For years, I’ve been nagging Bernd to write more blog posts and promote them on Alugha. Naturally, I assumed there would be a simple feed showing these posts when I log in. That’s how the biggest social media platforms do it, right? But today, I discovered something truly mind-blowing.

It turns out, when there’s a blog post or communication for a user to see, a little red dot appears over their profile picture. Simple enough…except I had no idea that’s what it meant! All this time, I assumed the red dot was warning me that I’d done something wrong—like failing to complete my setup or breaking some obscure rule. So, naturally, I ignored it.

But now I know: the dot isn’t there to shame me. It’s there to help me. Who would’ve thought? Certainly not me, the CIO!

Bernd’s Integrity: A Blessing and a Curse

One thing you need to know about Alugha is this: it’s built on rock-solid integrity. And for that, you can thank Bernd Korz, our fearless leader and the true Chief Executive Officer of Alugha. Bernd has a vision for Alugha that is refreshingly principled in an era where many companies take shortcuts.

For example, while I’d love for Alugha to include a personalized feed of blog posts, articles, and updates—like you’d see on major social media platforms—that’s simply not possible here. Why? Because Bernd is staunchly against abusing user data to make it happen. He refuses to track users’ interests, behaviors, or clicks to serve up curated content.

As CIO (Chief Idiot Officer), I’ve tried to persuade Bernd to bend just a little. After all, wouldn’t it be great if every Alugha user got instant updates about Bernd Bridges, my music, or other exciting projects the moment they log in? But nope. Bernd won’t budge. He’s deeply committed to ensuring Alugha remains a platform that respects user privacy and values.

Sometimes, I can’t help but feel it’s a pity that Bernd has so much integrity and serious morals. It would be so much easier to get our content in front of users if he’d just sacrifice a bit of that moral high ground. But then again, it’s precisely this commitment to principles that makes Alugha stand out.

The Battle for Intuitive Design

As soon as I cracked the code of the red dot, I informed the development team that it needs to be reworked. A feature this important should scream, "Hey, read me!" rather than silently confuse users into thinking they’ve done something wrong. As CIO, I consider it my mission to champion intuitive design for all users—whether they’re tech-savvy pros or tech-challenged entertainers like me.

Shares, Please?

With this red-dot revelation, I’ve undoubtedly earned my shares in the company. My contributions as Chief Idiotic Officer are invaluable, after all. I bring perspective, humor, and just enough chaos to keep things interesting.

So here’s my message to Alugha users: if I can figure out how this platform works, so can you. And if you get stuck, don’t worry—that’s why I’m here. Together, we’ll make Alugha better, one baffling feature at a time. 😉
