Fly River Turtle facts: aka pig nosed turtle! | Animal Fact Files

Also known as the pig-nosed turtle, the Fly River turtle is a strange turtle indeed. The Fly River turtle could be described as a cross between a softshell turtle and a sea turtle. Softshell because it has a shell lacking scutes just like a softshell turtle, and sea turtle because it has large front flippers that are perfect for swimming - just like a sea turtle! Fly River turtles are also known as pig-nosed turtles because they have adorable, thick pig noses!
