Mental health plays a critical role in the overall health and well-being of children. With Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), children have coverage for mental health services (including behavioral health) necessary to prevent, diagnose, and treat a broad range of mental health symptoms and disorders; these services can be done in-person or virtually.
Families without health insurance may be eligible for free or low-cost health insurance available through Medicaid or CHIP and they can enroll at any time of the year. Parents may be eligible for Medicaid, too. Visit the “Find Coverage for Your Family” map on InsureKidsNow.gov or call 1-877-KIDS-NOW (1-877-543-7669) to learn more.
