(فارسى) Iran 🇮🇷 - President Addresses United Nations General Debate, 77th Session | #UNGA

Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, President, Islamic Republic of Iran, addresses the general debate of the 77th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (New York, 20 - 26 September 2022). Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi told the General Assembly his country is serious about reviving a deal on its nuclear program and asked for “only one thing: commitment, observance of commitments.” Addressing Member States today (21 Sep), Raisi said that Iran “gave ample opportunities for those who trampled upon and left this agreement to return to it.” “We have been extremely flexible and had it not been for our flexibility, the negotiations have stopped in the very first few days. The logic of negotiations of Iran is a just analysis of what is going on,” said the Head of State. According to Raisi, “it was America that left and trampled upon the agreement, not Iran.” Iran’s President also said that “the International Atomic Energy Agency issued 15 different reports stating precisely that Iran had remained fully committed to all of our commitments.” Raisi said his country accepted the agreement, in 2015, with “goodwill” and, in a first phase, live up to all of its commitments without any exceptions.” The result, said the Head of State, were sanctions as “a punishment on the people of Iran for being freedom seekers.” “Weapons of mass destruction is what these sanctions are,” added Raisi. Iran’s President also held up the picture of the former commander of Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guards Corps, Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani, who was assassinated by the United States in Iraq in 2020. Raisi said that “the proper pursuit of justice in the face of a crime that the American president admitted, putting his signature on, will not be abandoned.” According to him, Iran “will seek through a fair tribunal to bring justice to those who martyred our beloved General Suleimani.” The Iranian Head of State also mentioned Israel, saying that “the region has not seen previously a savage occupying power such as the Zionist regime in its midst in the past.” Raisi added that “the killing of children and women are present in the dark report card of the Zionist regime” and Israel has also “managed to form the biggest prison in the world in Gaza.” ---------------------------------------- The UN General Assembly (UNGA) is the main policy-making organ of the Organization. Comprising all Member States, it provides a unique forum for multilateral discussion of the full spectrum of international issues covered by the Charter of the United Nations. Each of the 193 Member States of the United Nations has an equal vote. The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. Currently made up of 193 Member States, the UN and its work are guided by the purposes and principles contained in its founding Charter. The UN has evolved over the years to keep pace with a rapidly changing world. But one thing has stayed the same: it remains the one place on Earth where all the world’s nations can gather together, discuss common problems, and find shared solutions that benefit all of humanity.
