When you discuss a topic and everyone agrees, the conversation often falls silent quickly. However, if you disagree, you contradict what has been said, and the discussion continues. Paul Graham, a computer engineer, therefore proposed a "hierarchy of disagreements" in 2008. Figure out at what level you're able to articulate your disagreement. Hopefully, it's not just insults or a reaction to the tone of voice.

EXERCISE IN THE CLASSROOM
To better understand at what level in Graham's hierarchy each student disagrees, you can do the following:
Play the first two scenes of this video.
Ask your students to choose a statement they disagree with and one they agree with.
Give them 5 minutes to discuss between the students who agree with a statement and those who disagree with it
Proceed to play the video till the end
Give students 5 to 10 minutes to improve their arguments for rejecting the original statement.
Give students an additional 5 minutes to discuss their disapproval.
Ask each student to evaluate another student's arguments and place them in Graham's hierarchy of disagreements.
