0:00 → 0:01
SPEAKER_01 Hey guys, Maria and I are back with another episode of Let's Enjoy
Hockey.
0:01 → 0:02
SPEAKER_01 Last time we talked about the players' equipment and today we're going
to show you the goalkeeping equipment.
0:02 → 0:03
SPEAKER_01 Yes, goalkeepers need a lot of protection because they need to defend
the goal.
0:03 → 0:03
SPEAKER_01 So we would like to introduce you to Mannheim's main goalkeeper.
0:29 → 0:33
SPEAKER_00 Hi, I'm Lisa Schneider, I'm 24 years old and I'm the goalie for Mannheim
Hockey Club.
0:33 → 0:35
SPEAKER_01 Our women's team is playing in the National League and I've been playing
for Mannheim for 12 years and since last year I've also been playing for
the German women's national hockey team.
0:49 → 0:49
SPEAKER_01 Last year the Mannheim women's team finished runners-up and today I'm
going to explain my equipment.
0:49 → 0:50
SPEAKER_01 On my feet I'm wearing kickers.
0:50 → 0:50
SPEAKER_01 I basically am always using them to kick the ball.
0:50 → 0:51
SPEAKER_01 They are made of dense foam and then there are the leg guards.
0:51 → 0:51
SPEAKER_01 They protect my legs up to my knees.
0:51 → 0:51
SPEAKER_01 My pants protect my thighs.
0:51 → 0:52
SPEAKER_01 The special thing about them is that they are used in American football
because I need to be very agile.
0:52 → 0:52
SPEAKER_01 On top I wear simple overpants.
1:15 → 1:16
SPEAKER_01 The chest guard protects my upper body and is also made of dense foam so I
don't get bruises.
1:16 → 1:16
SPEAKER_01 Here is my shoulder protection and then a jersey on top.
1:16 → 1:17
SPEAKER_01 When it comes to my arms, I especially have to protect my elbows.
1:17 → 1:19
SPEAKER_01 The inside of my arm is virtually not covered and occasionally I do get
hit by a ball there, but it's more important that my joints are protected
and that I can move quickly.
1:43 → 1:43
SPEAKER_01 The most important piece of my equipment is the helmet.
1:43 → 1:44
SPEAKER_00 The mask is made of steel and the helmet of carbon fiber, so it's very
strong.
1:44 → 1:44
SPEAKER_00 It protects my face and head.
1:44 → 1:44
SPEAKER_00 The plastic thingy here is my neck guard.
1:44 → 1:45
SPEAKER_01 Last but not least, the gloves and the stick.
1:45 → 1:45
SPEAKER_01 I hold onto the stick inside of the glove.
1:45 → 1:46
SPEAKER_01 The goalie gloves are also made from foam, so it doesn't hurt when I save
shots.
2:08 → 2:09
SPEAKER_01 Great, thanks Lisa, and good luck for the rest of the season.
2:09 → 2:09
SPEAKER_01 Bye till the next episode.
2:09 → 2:09
SPEAKER_01 Bye bye till next time.
2:09 → 2:11
SPEAKER_01 Don't forget to follow Eluga on Instagram and Facebook, otherwise you
will miss out on the funny outtakes from behind the scenes.
2:11 → 2:11
SPEAKER_01 Episode 4, equipment goalkeeper.
2:11 → 2:11
SPEAKER_01 You're in? Goalie.
