Biljke imaju transportni sistem za kretanje stvari.
Ksilem pomera vodu i rastvore, od korena do lišća u procesu poznatom kao transpiracija.
Floem pomera glukozu i aminokiseline iz lišća širom biljke, u procesu poznatom kao translokacija.
Ksilem i floem su raspoređeni u grupe koje se nazivaju vaskularni snopovi. Aranžman je malo drugačiji u korenu do stabljika. Ksilem se sastoji od mrtvih ćelija, dok se floem sastoji od živih ćelija.
