Environ un tiers de la surface de l'Allemagne est recouvert de forêt. Près de la moitié de la superficie forestière est privée, 29 % appartiennent aux Länder et environ 19 % appartiennent à des villes et des municipalités. Environ 4 pour cent de la forêt appartient à l'Allemagne.
