Five Ethical Challenges of Neuralink-like Advanced Brain Computer Interfaces

Advanced brain computer interfaces like the one being developed by Elon Musk’s Neuralink have the potential to transform our lives for the better. But they also come with complex ethical challenges. In this collaboration with Elma Hajric, Risk Bites dives into some of ethical risks and responsible innovation challenges associated with Neuralink-like advanced brain machine interfaces. Elma is currently a PhD student in the Human and Social Dimension of Science and Technology program in Arizona State University’s School for the Future of Innovation in Society. The video is part of Risk Bites series on Public Interest Technology - technology in the service of public good. USEFUL LINKS Neuralink: https://neuralink.com/ Neuralink’s Technology Is Impressive. Is this America's most bizarre Thanksgiving Dish?

Okay so this has nothing to do with risk. Or science (sort of). But I couldn't resist making it! I love Thanksgiving. This has to be one of the best holidays, period. Negligible commercialization, great food, and a chance to relax, catch up with family and friends, and contemplate everything you

What's a gene drive?

A gene drive is a radical new way of re-engineering the genetic makeup of an entire species - including harmful insects like the mosquito. But as the technology steams head, fueled by powerful gene editing techniques coming out of synthetic biology like CRISPR Cas9, what are the risks, and how can w
