T-Zellen bilden einen wichtigen Bestandteil des menschlichen Immunsystems. ERIKA PEARCE erklärt, dass es mehrere Arten von T-Zellen gibt, die sich während der Immunreaktion nacheinander bilden und unterschiedliche Aufgaben erfüllen. Effektor-T-Zellen bekämpfen Krankheitserreger von Infektionen oder Tumoren, während Gedächtnis-T-Zellen für eine schützende Immunität sorgen, um eine erneute Infektion oder das Wiederauftreten von Krebs zu verhindern. Die in diesem Video vorgestellte Forschung verbindet in-vitro- und in-vivo-Ansätze und untersucht, wie der Stoffwechsel der T-Zellen die Entwicklung von Effektor- und Gedächtnis-T-Zellen beeinflusst.
