Ozean-Satellit nach bekannten Wissenschaftler benannt

Klick hier, um mehr Videos zu sehen: https://alugha.com/NASA Ein wichtiger Satellit, der Ozeane observiert und diesen Herbst starten wird, wurde nach dem Earth Science-Wissenschaftler Michael Freilich benannt, wie die NASA, die ESA (European Space Agency), EUMETSAT (European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites) und NOAA ( National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) am 28. Januar bekannt gaben. Freilich war der Leiter der NASAs Earth Science-Division von 2006 bis zu seinem Rücktritt Februar 2019. Der Sentinel-6A/Jason CS Satellit, der diesen Herbst von der Vandenberg Air Force Basis in Kalifornien starten wird, wird nun als Sentinel-6 Mike Freilich bekannt sein. Das Ziel der Sentinel-6-Mission ist, hochpräzise Ozean-Höhenmessungen weiterhin zwischen 2020-2030 durchzuführen mithilfe von zwei identischen Satelliten, die mit einem Abstand von fünf Jahren starten werden -- Sentinel-6A (umbenannt) und Sentinel-6B.
