Billy the Kid Returns is a 1938 American western film directed by Joseph Kane. The film was also marketed in Germany under the title Billy the Kid lives.
Plot:
Billy the Kid has over 20 people on his conscience in New Mexico and is unscrupulous in his actions. During this time, the singing cowboy Roy Rogers, who looks confusingly similar to Billy the Kid, appears there. On the day of his appearance, he is pursued by Matson and his people, who think he is Billy and want to kill him. However, Roy faces this danger and flees. That same night, the real Billy is shot by Sheriff Pat Garrett.
When Roy Rogers discovers an attack on a farm, he rushes to the aid of the farmers by returning their horses. This act attracts a lot of attention and he is referred to as Billy the Kid. At this moment, the musician Frog Millhouse can testify that he attended school together with Roy Rogers and thus wins the trust of Nathaniel Moore and Ellen Moore. Who immediately falls in love with Roy.
Information:
The film celebrated its world premiere on September 4, 1938 and was released on DVD in Germany in 2007. The film was the second big success of Roy Rogers' career after Under Western Stars. From a historical point of view, the film has nothing to do with the historical personality of Billy the Kid.
