Powering a Growing Community: Florence the Shopkeeper's Journey with CEI Africa Support

After being displaced from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Florence established herself as a shopkeeper in the Kalobeyei refugee camp, working hard to build a life and a business. Her days used to be constrained by a reliance on charcoal, which was expensive, inefficient, and a constant health risk. Today, access to reliable, clean electricity has completely transformed both her shop and her life. The shift to clean energy has allowed Florence to replace charcoal with clean cooking solutions, drastically improving her daily well-being. Additionally, stable electricity unlocked new revenue streams for her business, such as ironing services and blending fresh juices. Florence's journey is a great example of why CEI Africa invests in off-grid energy infrastructure. Access to clean, reliable electricity bridges the gap between basic survival and economic empowerment, giving resilient entrepreneurs the tools to diversify, scale, and thrive.
