"Hitachi Social Innovation is POWERING GOOD" simply expresses Hitachi's determination to realize GOOD things that people around the world desire, such as improving QoL (Quality of Life) and building a sustainable society together with partners.
In this movie, Mr. Kazufumi Hirata of Water & Environment Business Unit, Hitachi, Ltd., appears. In the city of Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, poorly treated wastewater had been drained into the oceans, deteriorating the living and marine environment. To solve this, Mr. Hirata and his colleagues set out to build the country’s first modern water treatment plant. He started by picking up trash in the town to get the residents’ understanding, who opposed the project at first, and kept telling them that wastewater can be clean if treated properly. "Revive the beautiful oceans in behind the scenes". This story is about his pride and passion as an unsung hero.
