Accessible Learning Videos with AI and Open Source: Live Demo
Accessible learning videos with AI and open source: record in the browser, auto captions, correct them in an editor and share in an accessible player. What you will learn: - Why accessible learning videos in higher education often fail because of tools, time and cost - The workflow: record in the browser, AI captions with speech recognition, manual correction, sharing - How teams correct transcripts together in the editor - How an accessible web player works with captions, a searchable transcript and custom display - Outlook: live streaming, audio description and translations Chapters: 00:00 Introduction 02:00 The open source tool Melvin 03:00 Why accessible videos take so much effort 04:00 Workflow: record, AI captions, correct, share 05:00 Self-hosting and start of the live demo 07:00 Recording directly in the browser 09:00 Correcting the transcript together in the editor 11:00 Export and the upcoming translation feature 12:00 Sharing the video via link 13:00 Accessible player: captions and transcript 15:00 Custom display and more options Source and licence: Original title: Barrierefreie Lernvideos durch KI und Open Source - Egger, Reuter, Kuhn - U:FF 2025 Creator: Hochschulforum Digitalisierung (HFD) Original video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZBbU1dkIQ8 Licence: Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Changes by alugha: title and description adapted, transcript translated into English, French, Spanish and Polish.
