Science with Rina. Human Hearing Range

Video illustration to Sound Wavelength Calculator. An average human can hear frequencies from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. In this video, my granddaughter Rina and I are going to offer you a hearing test. Kids can hear higher frequencies while our ability to hear high-pitched sounds wanes as we age. This process is called presbycusis [ˌprez-bi-ˈkyü-səs] and it can be observable in people as young as 18! The older we get the harder it becomes for us to hear high frequencies. You can take a hearing test. Put on your headphones, make sure you are in a quiet place without background noise. We will play a sound with increasing frequency. As soon as you stop hearing the sound, stop the video and read the frequency in kHz. This frequency is your high-frequency hearing threshold.
